Faith Is Your Confidence In God. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 KJV This is the famous "definition of Faith". Many of us love this scripture so much, but loving it hasn't produced faith in us, has it? I would rather have faith than just be able to define it. Look what Jesus said concerning faith; (Matthew 17:20) And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. That grain of mustard seed is really tiny. The effect of that quantum of faith is POWERFUL. The scripture says it's the "substance", or "hupostasis" in Greek. It actually means the "foundation" or "assurance". So carefully examined faith is a physical measure of how much you trust or believe in God. What are you prepared to do physically because you absolutely believe in God's ability to do something? What will be your deposit on the deal? So faith is not wishful thinking or blind confidence in something. NO! It has everything to do with the knowledge and experience we have about the character and nature of God. It is a hope we have in God's goodness and mercies because we know or have experienced Him in action. Do you believe in Jesus? Do you trust that He is able to do what He has promised us? God promised that "whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life". Do you trust His word? If you really believe in His promises, shouldn't that also lead you to obey His commandments? So your confidence in Him (faith) will be determined also by how much you are willing to obey Him.
