Riches, Honor & Long Life? +++++++++++++++++++++ By humility and the fear of the LORD Are riches, and honour, and life. Proverbs 22:4 KJV Is there anything else anyone is seeking in life on this planet apart from Riches, Honor, and long life? For the majority of humankind, this is our quest in life. This morning's focus verse teaches us that humility and the fear of the Lord are essential to living a good and prosperous life. Humility is the opposite of pride. It is the recognition that we are all dependent on God and on others and that we do not have all the answers. When we are humble, we are open to learning and growing, and we are willing to serve others. The fear of the Lord is not a fear of punishment, but a reverence for God's holiness and power. It is a recognition that God is the creator and sustainer of all things and that we are accountable to Him for our lives. Our focus verse teaches us that when we are humble and we fear the Lord, He will bless us with riches, honor, and life. This does not mean that we will necessarily become wealthy or famous, but it does mean that we will be blessed with the things that are truly important in life, such as good relationships, meaningful work, and a sense of purpose. Here are some ways in which humility and the fear of the Lord can lead to riches, honor, and life: *Humility can lead to better relationships. When we are humble, we are more likely to be kind, compassionate, and forgiving. This can lead to stronger and more lasting relationships with our family, friends, and colleagues. *Humility can lead to more opportunities. When we are humble and willing to learn, we are more likely to be offered opportunities for advancement and growth. *The fear of the Lord can lead to wise decision-making. When we fear the Lord, we are more likely to make decisions that are in line with His will. This can lead to a more fulfilling and successful life. *The fear of the Lord can lead to eternal life. The Bible teaches that eternal life is a gift from God, and it is only available through Jesus Christ. When we fear the Lord, we are more likely to turn to Jesus for salvation and to live a life that is pleasing to Him. As we meditate on this morning's verse let it be a reminder that the most important things in life are not material possessions or worldly success, but rather humility, reverence for God, and a life that is lived in accordance with His will.
