Don't Copy The Customs Of The World ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 KJV This morning's thought follows right after the idea of "Personal Sacrifice" as our reasonable response to the sacrifice of our LORD Jesus, in the previous verse. It sheds some light on how we offer ourselves as a "living sacrifice". It seems to start with an alarming posture; running against the customs of the world around us; becoming a non-conformist or the odd one. For some of us, this is tough! We love to go with the flow. We look out for what is in "vogue" and join that "latest" craze. Unfortunately, the "world" and the "flesh" are our enemies in Christ. We must die to them. We must be inert to their influences otherwise we will be unwilling to sacrifice our lives for the cause of Christ. Paul shows us the way to achieve this. He points to our mindset as the turf for this war. He instructs that our minds should be renewed. He further asserts that this is the way we can test and confirm the instructions of God for our lives. Practically, we ought to ride on the plasticity of the brain and ensure that we constantly feed our minds with pure thoughts from the Word of God. This is how the transformation of our personalities will occur. Invest time in meditating upon the word of God. (Joshua 1:8) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Speak out the Word. Let the weak say; "I am strong" and let the poor say "I am rich". All because of what the Lord has done!
