Peace And Harmony ++++++++++++++++ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! Psalm 133:1 KJV It is indeed such a joy when we find ourselves in the company of well-meaning friends, where there is no strife, no animosity but the air is full of peace and harmony provoked by brotherly love. This is the will of God. No two persons are ever the same. God made everyone one of us unique. We have diverse cultures and people groups all around the globe, but God intends that we should be able to live in unity in spite of our diversities. It is such a disgrace that religion is identified as one of the major causes of war in the world. Yet none of the major religions in the world depicts a God who loves wars or conflict. Indeed Jesus said plainly that it is ONLY love that will define His followers. (John 13:35) By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. It is such an indictment against our society that in the 21st century, one nation should rise up against another. There should never be any kind of justification for war. Disagreements will always arise between brothers, families, ethnic groups, and nations, but this should never be enough reason to go to war. There should ALWAYS be a way to sit around a table with mediators to talk and talk and talk till an amicable settlement is found. We should never give up on dialogue as a means to a just settlement. It may take a long time but if parties are committed to peace, there will always be a way out. Paul admonishes us Christians to pray and intercede for all men and particularly leadership. (1 Timothy 2:1-3) I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; This morning, I will encourage all of us to pause and pray for all men, particularly in the West African sub-region and political leadership in particular, that there will be a resolution at all levels to give peace a chance. Let us pray that violent men will not have their way in our region. Let us pray that nations who profit from wars (by the sale of armaments); who exploit other nations will not have their way in our region. Let us pray and invite the Prince of Peace to establish His peace in our nation, Ghana.
