Walk In The Spirit ++++++++++++++ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 KJV What does it really mean to "Walk in the Spirit?" Practically, this means walking away from your old ways of living. Walking away from bondage to an idea, a person, a religious object of worship, or to sin. It involves the exercise of willpower to live a life that denies the gratification of the desires of the flesh which are contrary to the revealed word and purpose of God. Friends, the Word says: "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: Acts 1:8a KJV The Holy Spirit is not only our comforter but also our source of spiritual STRENGTH. There is clear evidence of the transformational power of the Holy Spirit when He came upon the early believers. Apostle Peter who out of fear of a damsel's word denied our Lord three-fold, was granted utterance to speak boldly in a public square to win over, three thousand souls for the kingdom when the Holy Spirit was come upon them. Stephen received STRENGTH to ask for forgiveness for those who were stoning him to death. etc. Paul, himself, out of a lust for fame and power persecuted the early saints (and actually supervised the lynching of Stephen), till he encountered our LORD Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit brooded over him for 3 days after which the scales fell off the eyes of Saul of Tarsus, transforming him into the same Paul, who under inspiration wrote this morning's text in a letter to the Galatian Church. He could testify, first hand, that walking in the Spirit, could liberate a man from bondage to the lusts of the flesh. Let's us daily ask for the in-filling of the Holy Spirit and willingly and willfully walk according to His direction and promptings. We will be transformed by the renewal of our minds and we will overcome every temptation to sin. The Holy Spirit will give you the power to be a victorious Christian.. and not some spineless sissy.
