God Loves You So Much +++++++++++++++++++ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV Arguably, the most popular verse of our Bible, this morning's text could also be considered as God's "Mission Statement". It is a summary of the good news of God's love expressed in the Bible. This mission statement becomes very important to us as Christians. Each of us has a specific and unique purpose to execute as part of God's mission. In order to understand our roles, therefore, we need to critically understand the mission into which we are called. The text reveals the heartbeat of God. He is a God seeking His lost souls and willing to pay the ultimate price for sin, on their behalf, so that they can live with Him forever. Ever since the fall of Adam and Eve, God has been in this pursuit. Generation after generation, motivated by intense love, He has sought out a people to lay the foundations for this great mission. He comes finally in the person of Jesus to fulfill His portion of that plan. Sacrifice is the means of accomplishment in this mission, therefore He gave His only son. He laid out the most simple terms. We must simply believe, only believe in Him. He needs us just to trust Him. His call is to all of the human family; all nations and tribes of the world; whosoever will trust Him, He is willing and able to save. Save not for a fleeting moment, but for all of eternity. He desires our love for eternity. He has called us also to be motivated by love, to go out and share this gospel, to sacrifice our all, in this pursuit of the human soul. He has called us partners to bring in the harvest so we can share in the inheritance of His kingdom. God loves you so much. Are you willing to trust Him? Are you willing to partner with Him?
